There’s a hive of bees atop Ace New York. Whitney started keeping them when it was still illegal to keep bees in New York City, and had to find somewhere to move them when she got custody of the hive after a breakup. Now they’re on our roof, working away busily. We’re hoping to make the roof a green space — Whitney’s bees are a good start, and April Bloomfield of the Breslin is on board, too. There’s a great view, and Whitney’s bee smoker (fueled by burlap Stumptown bags) creates a sense of nascent adventure and intrigue, standing on top of the world. Maybe next time you stay with us there will be a little jar of honey waiting on your desk.
Awesome.
On the hand-towel rack at the beach house bathroom. Visitors must think my family is crazy….
